Tamar is looking to create a coherent dialogue between contemporary dance and flamenco. She explores ways to combine these dance styles that shaped her as an artist. Accentuating the essence of each style, she connects the focus on movement quality and spacial awareness used in contemporary dance to the raw personal expression and musicality that underlies flamenco.
After graduating from the Amsterdam School for the Arts, Tamar's love for flamenco brought her to the South of Spain to study the art form in depth. In 2014 she received a generous scholarship from the renowned Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds to continue her flamenco studies in Seville. She ended up living there for nearly ten years. Currently she divides her time between Amsterdam and Spain.
